As good as it gets
I've tried four different hay feeders, and this is by far the best. Pros: -Pigs eat from it no problem. -Stores a lot of hay. -Easy to fill without spillage (pop off side and stuff full) -Minimal spillage onto the cage floor. Cons: -Takes up a lot of space. -Can be awkward to position. For me, hay feeders are a battle between making hay accessible and minimizing mess. This feeder makes the hay a little less accessible than I'd like, but is a good compromise nonetheless. Other Thoughts: This feeder would be perfect if the wires ran vertical instead of horizontal - the pigs often have to tilt their head sideways to grab the hay. Also, the wire door is completely useless - the manufacturer should seal it off and rather expect users to pop off the plastic sides. Finally, the design would be optimized if the sides were also made of wire mesh instead of solid plastic, allowing for maximum accessibility.

I love this feeder. Wish it was larger for two rabbits. Mine chewed it apart unfortunately after a month.
I really love this hay feeder. I attach it to the side of our pen. I really wish they offered a larger size since I find I need to refill this one at least three times a day for two medium size rabbits. I like that the bars are spaced close enough together that it would be impossible for any size rabbit to trap a leg. One of my rabbits is a constant chewer, he had this feeder apart in one month by chewing on the lip of the green plastic on both halves. ( I will post a picture in an update) That being said, I will purchase again since it did help with boredom and there was less waste than if I kept the hay in the litter box.

Keeps things a little tidier than other bins
We use this for our two guinea pigs. I prefer this to just piling their timothy hay in the cage. Keeps things just a bit neater, though of course hay does come out, obviously. It just doesn't fall all over--just a few pieces. We just leave the little hatch open for them. The hay is crammed in, so they still have to reach for it, but it's not hard for them to get it out. We like it. Also, even tho it takes up space in the cage, I think it's better than the hay bins that hang on the outside of the cage. This keeps the hay from getting on the floor outside the cage. Ours is large enough they still have plenty of room.

Very Cute!
So fun! I put hay in here in addition to the hay I put in my guy's litterbox... It makes it stay fresh for longer periods of time and it helps him stay stimulated since he's food motivated and the tiniest bit lazy. The window that pops open for loading it up is generously sized and clamps securely so I'm not concerned about it ever getting popped open while he's playing with it. All in all, I really like it and it seems to be built well. The loops on the bottom (for clipping into the bottom of a cage) are a thoughtful addition for the more rambunctious buns!

Overall a really great product!
I decided to hang the ball on the inside of my guinea pigs cage instead of the free standing option due to the fact that Berry likes knocking everything over. The turning functionality isn't hindered whatsoever by this choice. I thought my guinea pig would have issues getting used to this feeder; but within moments of installing the hay feeder he was nommin' on his favorite timothy hay. Overall a really great product!

Does its Job Simply
Unlike other reviewers, I have no issue with the door closure for the wheel. It snaps closed using tension, much in the same way the doors to some small animal cages close. I got this because I wanted a cleaner way to provide my rabbit's hay. It does that, but you have to keep it pretty full. If the ball is not full the small pieces will just fall out of the bottom (defeating the purpose for me). You should also keep in mind, though, that if it's packed TOO tightly none of the hay will stick out so your bunny may not be able to get ahold of any of it to eat it, and will promptly ignore it. It can stand alone on its stand, hook into the side of a cage or mesh, or roll freely without the stand as a toy. Keep in mind that it comes in "assorted colors" so there's no guarantee which color you'll get. I got purple.

Perfect for hay eating animals
I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. Working at PetSmart and using these daily, I learned that yes you will have to fill these once or twice a day, maybe even more, but if that is how much your animal wants to eat, then let them, they are just hungry. I purchased one for my guinea pig, he knocked it over iimmediately, but luckily the bottom part of the stand has a hook so I hooked it onto his cage and I have not had any problems since. It is easy to pack and fill unlike these reviews of people saying that it is hard to fill, it took me 30 seconds. The easy way to do it is by getting a huge handful of hay, folding it in half and shoving the hay inside the opening. If you fill it with enough hay, it will make it harder for the animals to get it out which means you won't have it fill it as much. I like this product because it keeps my guinea pig working for his food and gives him something to do.

Entertaining, encourages hay eating, versatile use
This hay holder is the best product I have bought for my guinea pigs. They are obsessed with this thing. I also like that it is so versatile - I can hook it from the side of the cage, but it can also stand on its own. This simple hay holder has given my piggies many, many hours of fun - they love to roll the ball back and forth, squeeze themselves under it, pull hay out of it enthusiastically, and fight over who gets to play with it. Many times, I will come into the room, unhook the ball from the side of the cage, stand it upright in the middle of the cage, and the piggies will groggily wake up from their naps in order to play and nuzzle with the ball for hours. Best thing I ever bought for them, period.

Great product, and my critters love it.
I suppose I have to start this with admitting that I very strongly favor most Super Pet products. That doesn't really make any difference though, as my 5 guinea pigs totally dig the hay ball. 4 of them are only 10 days old, and they enjoy getting on both sides and making it rock back and forth while they eat. Coquette, their mother, actually does make it spin when she's feeling a little rowdy. Also, all of them are eating more hay than they were before the product was introduced. I don't use the door - I pop the side off, which actually lets you pack in a lot more than if you were refilling through the door. I have it hanging on the wall of my cage, and it really doesn't take up that much room - still plenty of popcorning and lap running happening. I think a lot of people have too high of expectations when spending $8-10 dollars on a piece of plastic and some wire. This is a great simple product that does exactly what it is supposed to do. Don't hate.

Much better than normal wire hay ball.
I want to address an issue that other reviewers have mentioned. "The door is too small and doesn't stay shut." My question is this- when has hay ever NOT been a messy job? I have used all sorts of hay holders, and even just plopped it down in the floor of the cage, and I always make a mess. It's not the result of whatever container I am putting it in... it's because hay is messy when you pull it out of the bag. To solve this problem, I always fill up the hay ball over something else that I can quickly wipe the stray hay off of. If you have a larger hay bag, you can fill it up inside the bag. Otherwise, fill it up over the trash can, or a table, or anywhere that you don't mind having hay or can easily clean it off. Before this hay holder, I was using a Ware Manufacturing Hay Ball, and I am much happier with this "rollin' the hay" holder. As for the door not staying shut, I can't comment because I just got this thing yesterday. I'll come back in a couple months to update.
